Frequency modulation is a common form of information transmission that has the advantage of very low external disturbances and sound coming from the cost of a higher bandwidth requirement. It is common in high fidelity music broadcast through fm stations, The audio channel of any television system and many instrumentation applications. The present experimental unit aims at exposing the students to the features of frequency modulation using two techniques viz., A voltage controlled oscillator based and a phase lock loop based. Detailed procedure and results are provided designed to deliver a reliable understanding of the technique.
